From Learning to Leading: Developing Talent Through Apprenticeships

Celebrating Professional Growth at Desoutter

We’re proud to celebrate one of our team members, Isaac McCormick, Junior Sales Engineer, on successfully completing the Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship, a fantastic achievement that reflects both dedication and professional growth.

After graduating from university, he began his career in sales and has continued to develop his skills through the Desoutter apprenticeship programme. Over the 18-month course, he built a strong foundation across key areas including sales fundamentals, sales planning and preparation, presentations, negotiation, ethics, and closing techniques.

Building Sales Skills Through Apprenticeship Training

Balancing full-time work alongside study required commitment and excellent time management, with one day each week dedicated to learning and development. A key benefit of the programme was the opportunity to immediately apply newly learned skills in a real-world environment, supported by colleagues and managers throughout the journey.

Following a final professional assessment and presentation demonstrating the skills and experience developed throughout the programme, he successfully achieved the Level 4 qualification.

Reflecting on the experience, Isaac said:

“The apprenticeship has been a fantastic opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. Being able to apply what I learned directly into my role helped me build confidence and practical sales skills, and I’m proud to have achieved the qualification alongside my full-time role.”

Investing in Employee Development and Future Talent

Supporting employee development and creating opportunities for growth remains an important focus across the business. Commenting on Isaac’s achievement, his manager, Stephen Draper-Garcia, Business Line Manager, said:

“Developing skilled, knowledgeable people is key to delivering the best possible support to our customers. We’re proud to invest in professional development opportunities that help our teams continue to grow and succeed.”

Congratulations again on achieving this qualification, Isaac, an excellent accomplishment and a great example of continuous learning and development in action.
